To commemorate the birth anniversary of ‘Hockey Wizard’ Major Dhyan Chand, National Sports day was celebrated at BVM USN with utmost zeal and zest. In a special morning assembly, Mr. Sanjeev Thakur (sports teacher) motivated Bhartiyans to participate in various sports activities for their holistic growth. He familiarized the students with the great achievements of Major Dhyan Chand who made India proud through his glorious hockey stick. He also apprised the students that Dhyan Chand joined army at an early age & learnt to play hockey from his coach Pankaj Gupta & took the nation to the pinnacle of glory by earning three Olympic gold medals. Many sports tournaments are organized on this day and the President of India bestows prestigious Arjuna & Dronacharya award and Dhyan Chand award upon the sports persons for their wonderful contribution in various sports field. The students pledged to add physical activities in their daily routine and contribute their bit in making the nation fit and healthy. Students of class IX and X participated vigorously in the drill practice and also performed some Yog asanas. Bhartiyans also attended a live session, in the Hedgewar Auditorium, in which honorable Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi inspired the students to adopt a healthy lifestyle on daily basis.
Principal Mrs. Bandana Sethi extended greetings on this propitious day. She motivated the students that India is blessed with an immense sports talent and there is a vital need to harness its potential by following the spirit of true sportsmanship and exhorted the students to forward themselves in the sports activities whole heartedly.
